Over the past few days, big heavy dumps of snow have been falling in Chamonix with plenty more on the way this week.
Last week the official snow depth at 2400m was 30cm.
... today it is 200cm !
And with the snowfall predicted over the next couple of days we should easily surpass 300cm for the beginning of March.
It was 'big grins' all round in the Bigfoot Office yesterday afternoon, as various staff members came back from the slopes. The general comment was, "there is SO MUCH snow !!!". None of us expected it to be so deep. Photos below.
As for the coming weeks, late February and March have traditionally been very dry months in Chamonix as spring kicks into gear, but with the winter snowfalls coming so late this year, March is looking like a spectacular month to be in Chamonix. There is so much snow now that it should last well beyond the close of the season in early May.
